Get Fit With Dance Games For Wii
Do you want to dance your body into the best shape it's ever been? If you like having fun while exercising, a few of the top dance games for Wii could be just the thing to get you going!
I will share the results of my research for my own Wii for fitness game collection and you can decide which Wii dance game is best for you. A few of the top games are for kids but I found that the kid's dance games can be good for adults as well when just starting a new exercise practice.
When going to the local YMCA recently with my daughter-in-law, I observed a class in progress called Zumba. I had no idea what this was but knew that I had to investigate further. My research led me to using Zumba Fitness 2 and some other top dance games for Wii to help get my body toned and in shape.
Dancing is a very fun way to exercise and now you can lose weight while having fun with these awesome dance games.

Just Dance 2
#10 Just Dance - A Top Dance Game for Wii
At number 10, this dance program will have you learning dance moves to music from the 80's, 90's, Disco, Rock and more! You can dance solo or have a dance and exercise party for up to 4 players. Not sure what the lyrics are? I like that there are scrolling lyrics so that I can sing along. You can choose songs by difficulty levels and there are abbreviated versions of the songs if you want to ease into things. I usually choose the easiest setting to start out.
A few of the songs on this game are - That's the Way (I Like It) - KC and the Sunshine Band, Louie Louie - Iggy Pop, Eye of the Tiger - Survivor, Can't Get You Out of My Head - Kylie Minogue, U Can't Touch This - MC Hammer and more! Over 30 dance songs to exercise to.
#9 ABBA You Can Dance - A Top Dance Game For Wii
Number 9 is put out by the Just Dance company and features 26 hits from the group ABBA that have been digitally remastered for the Wii system. This dancing game really brings back memories! Just reading the titles takes me back to the day. Some of the songs include the hits Dancing Queen (two versions), Fernando, Mama Mia, and Take A Chance On Me!
Features include the 'You Can Dance' mode where you can dance for fun or compete with and challenge up to 4 friends. You can also play with the 'Mini Musical' mode where you get to participate in a short musical of some of ABBA's songs. If you have a Wii microphone, you can even have a karaoke party and sing along with two other friends in the 'Karaoke' mode while the lyrics go across the screen. It also includes footage from ABBA music videos, concert footage and classic ABBA photos.
Reasons For Owning Dance Games for Wii - Some Of The Top Reasons
There are several reasons that I love exercising with the Dance Games for Wii and I thought I would share some of them with you.
- Convenience - I work and create from my home. It is very convenient for me to stop what I am doing and take a break several times a day and go dance those inches away! Exercising in short bursts has always been most effective for me whether it is going for a brisk walk or loading a dance game in the Wii and dancing several dances. I am way more likely to exercise if I don't have to stay and work at it for long periods of time. This also gives my metabolism a boost several times a day as well.
- Go At My Own Pace - Exercising with the dancing games allows me to go at my own pace and to ease into the dances as my body is able. I have to honor my body and ease into any exercise routine I begin. Going to an exercise dance class would probably end up with me feeling sluggish and left behind. If I want to start out with a super easy dance or even a kids dance game, I can!
- Privacy - When you dance exercise at home, you can choose a time when no one else is around to either distract you or watch. Until I master a new exercise routine I don't like for anyone to watch. I am way less inhibited when being able to do it alone at first until my confidence levels go up.
- Learning New Skills - In the past, dancing was not something I particularly enjoyed. Now I do! I am learning all kinds of new dances and routines and my body is loving it. Hopefully one day my dancing skills will improve to the point that I will feel comfortable dancing in public!
- Motivation - Some people are more motivated to exercise by getting ready and going out to join a group to exercise with. I am just the opposite. The thought of having to do so many things just to get to a place so that I can exercise takes the fun out of it for me. When I'm ready to exercise, I'm ready!
- More Cost Effective - Owning your own Wii Dance Games to exercise with will be more cost effective in the long run. Joining a gym or an exercise class costs money,not to mention the gas to get you there. Yes, it is worth it if that is what motivates you to stay with your exercise program but being more cost effective motivates me even more.
#8 Just Dance Summer Party - Limited Edition - Top Dance Game for Wii
This limited edition Wii Just Dance game has 23 different fun songs to tone and slim your body into awesome shape. Songs from the 80's, 90's and current hits that include hits from Katy Perry, Rihanna, Steppenwolf and The Supremes.
Features include a Just Dance mode for 1 to 4 players, Free For All mode with 1 to 4 players, Team Battle mode with 4 to 8 players and a Dance Till You Sweat mode. You can also keep track of the calories you burn and set up preset goals. The Free For All mode has 4 sub-modes. There is the Classic mode that you will dance to the music; the Duet mode allows you to have a partner and participate together with a 2-part choreography; the Simon Says mode that you dance, stop, spin, and clap to the instructions; and the Race mode where you can be the first to reach the flag.
#7 ExerBeat - Exercises And Fun For The Whole Family!
ExerBeat has something for the whole family to participate in with 155 exercises that cover eight categories of routines. The different exercise categories include Dance, Martial Arts, and Body Conditioning. The Dance styles are Aerobics, Hip Hop, and Latin Dance with 60 exercises to work up to. The Martial Arts Exercises category includes Boxing, Karate, and Karate Forms with 50 exercises total. The Body Conditioning category includes Yoga/Pilates and Stretching exercises with 30 exercises total.
Some other great features of ExerBeat include being able to set up personalized workout goals and the game keeps track of your points and calories burned. There are many goals and achievements to keep motivated either with other family members or alone. Five fun games are included for the whole family to join in on which are Swimming, Dance Fever, Pizza Toss, Wall Smasher and Pirate Attack. There is definitely something for everyone with this fun exercise and dance game!
#6 Just Dance Kids 2 - A Top Dance Game for Wii
I think Just Dance Kids 2 is a great exercise game that will keep your young ones entertained and fit with hours of fun. Anything that will motivate our young ones to exercise and play at the same time is a total plus. The parental programming feature allows you to set up a non-stop shuffle mode while choosing types of songs and the amount of time for your kids to get their exercise in while playing along.
This very popular dance game features four different languages, allows kids to make personal playlists with up to 10 songs, has on screen lyrics for singing along, has simple menu icons for young players to navigate easily, and 40 dance routines led by real kids. There are popular songs from pop hits, movies and TV shows, fun songs for younger kids and classic kids tunes. Some of the songs are Whip My Hair, Just The Way You Are, I'm A Gummy Bear, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and lots more!

#5 Nickelodeon Dance - Best Dance Games for Wii
Another very popular dance game that has popular Nickelodeon characters for kids to dance and sing along with is Nickelodeon Dance. Some Moms and Dads are enjoying starting their exercise routines with this fun game along with their kids! The dance routines were created with a children's dance choreographer that turns your kid's fun into a great workout. Start your kids out young to help them develop lifelong workout habits!
Some of the features of Nickelodeon Dance include 30 songs from TV theme songs, pop favorites, holiday classics and Nickelodeon hits. From one to two players can dance along with easy to follow images and on screen song lyrics. Each routine has three different ratings for difficulty. The four different categories include Workout Songs, Starting Steps Songs, Smooth Move Songs, and Fancy Footwork Songs. Just Dance 2 has 44 dancing songs for you to dance your pounds and inches away. This dance game has four dance modes that include Duet Mode for dancing with a partner, Dance Battle Mode allows up to eight players, Party Mode allows dancers to dance together for as long as they like and just for the fun of it, and the Just Sweat Mode that is great exercise disguised as fun.

My husband and I love this game! We like that on several of the songs you can choose to either dance as Michael or as his backup. One of the choices is usually easier than the other. Then you can dance with a partner!
More features included are 4-player support, authentic choreography from live and music video performances, game modes of single player, challenge mode, and a practice mode to learn the iconic moves of Michael Jackson. Dance and exercise along with the performer that sold over 800 million albums and had 13 number one singles while learning the moves that made him a legend!

One Of My Favorites!
You can exercise in the comfort of home and be a part of the Zumba workout movement that has people waiting in lines to participate in classes at the gym! I love working out to Zumba and learning some awesome dance steps that I have always wanted to know. This game gives you a total body workout and you can learn 20 different dance styles at the same time.
Choose from 32 routines and artists such as Nicole Scherzinger, DCup, and Pitbull. Your instructors are Tanya Beardsley, Gina Grant, and Beto. The 3D models allow for very easy viewing of the dance moves. Learn dance styles such as Merengue, Samba, Salsa, Cumbia, Axe, Indian, Latin Pop, Bellydance, and Pasodoble. The five different modes include Single Song, Zumba Class, Zumba Party, and Learn the Steps.
I like that you can choose from different difficulty settings in each mode, as I have to 'ease' into my exercise routines. The Zumba Class mode has choices of 20, 45, and 60 minute modes. Choose from five dynamic environments to get Zumba fit and learn those moves!

#1 Just Dance 3 - Top Dance Games for Wii
Yayyy! Another Personal Favorite!

Just Dance has all three of their games in the top 10 and this one is another favorite of mine. Several features from Just Dance 2 are also in this version such as the Duets Mode, Non-Stop Shuffle Mode, Medley Mode and Simon Says mode. There are over 45 hits and classic party tracks to dance to with the option of downloading more from the in-game store!
Just Dance 3 has a Dance Crew Mode that features four concurrent dance routines that four players can share in their own unique moments of fame. The Dance 'Til Dawn mode allows you to dance as long as you like without stopping. In the Just Sweat mode, you can choose from a Free Session sub-menu that allows up to four players or instead take the 7-Day Challenge. There are even further options that allow you to choose from several styles of dancing.
Some of the awesome music you can choose from in Just Dance 3 is Venus by Bananarama, I Feel Love by Donna Summer (one of my favorites!), I Was Made For Lovin' You by Kiss, Mamasita by Latino Sunset, I'm So Excited by The Pointer Sisters, and Pump It by The Black Eyed Peas.
There are dancing modes that allow up to eight players at once and tracks with cardio training options. It looks like this Just Dance game pretty much has all your exercising needs covered!
